Time for Treats
CARROT and APPLE TIME, 3 – 4pm daily at the Equestrian Center
We have been so happy to see all the visitors to the Equestrian Center recently. We have many animals here that welcome all your love, attention, and of course treats! Did you know that all horses have different diets? Similar to us, horses require strict diets and rations to help keep them healthy and happy. Horses and ponies also have certain health issues that limit what kinds of foods and treats they can have such as Cushings, and other Metabolic Disorders that prohibit the intake of starches and sugars. We have some horses and ponies here with those types of health restrictions, so it is always important to ask a staff member before feeding the animals at the barn.
Members and Guests are welcome to bring and feed treats during Carrot and Apple Time which happens daily from 3-4pm. Remember to check with our helpful staff members before feeding treats so we can help guide you to which horses and ponies can have which types of snacks safely!
Below are a list of treats that we recommend for Carrot and Apple Time:
Shelled Roasted Peanuts
Watermelon – even the rind!
NEVER feed the following:
Avocados, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Spinach, Raw garlic, Onions, Peppers, Tomatoes, Raw potatoes, Cabbage, Chocolate, Milk, Cheese, Yogurt
Remember, always treat in moderation and use caution when feeding treats to any animals!
